Women for Navy Athletics

The Women for Navy Athletics committee was established as a Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) initiative designed to engage and strengthen the connection of female Naval Academy graduates, midshipman student-athletes, families, and friends in support of the NAAA's Physical Mission priorities. The Women for Navy Athletics committee supports the belief that every midshipman is a student-athlete. The goals of the Physical Mission are met on the playing fields, courts and pools whether through intramural, club or varsity participation. Additionally, all sports educate midshipmen through leadership, determination and teamwork.

How to Support

The Women for Navy Athletics Committee (WFNA) was established to support the Physical Mission at the United States Naval Academy by providing support to key initiatives within the Naval Academy Athletic Association and by engaging former female student-athletes in this mission. To continue making an impact on the lives of Midshipmen, WFNA provides Margin of Excellence funding to support the following:

Sports Nutrition for Male & Female Student-Athletes

Establishment of Athletic & Scholarship Program Trustees Awards for Student-Athletes

Annual Female Sport Alumni Reunions

WFNA partners with the NAAA and USNA Alumni Association & Foundation to reach an annual fundraising goal of $250,000 to the "Women for Navy Athletic Excellence Fund". Women in Navy Sports Exhibit

Women for Navy Athletics completed funding for the Women in Navy Sports Exhibit in the new Terwilliger Center for Student-Athletes in the Spring of 2020. With a goal of $500,000, this project was the first accomplishment of WFNA. The exhibit highlights our athletic programs' accomplishments and standout female athletes from the Class of 1980 to present. The state-of-the-art Terwilliger Center for Student-Athletes will serve as a focal point for visiting alumni, friends, and future midshipmen at the Naval Academy.

Sports Nutrition for Student-Athletes

Women for Navy Athletics is working to provide Margin of Excellence resources that are being used to create and expand nutritional fueling stations across the Yard. Nutrition is pivotal in preparing our student-athletes for competition. Increasing the accessibility to food and reinterested dietitians allows Midshipmen to enhance their performance in the classroom and on the field. For updates on Navy nutrition Click Here
