Sohovich Fueling Station Dedication - November 10, 2023

We're excited to share the newly dedicated Sohovich Fueling Station located in Lejeune Hall. On November 10, 2023, Navy Athletics officially dedicated the space and celebrated its completion which was made possible by lead donor JoAnna Sohovich '93, Women for Navy Athletics committee member. Coaches and supporters gathered to tour the facility's enhancements and commemorate the improvement of nutritional resources on the Yard.

The Navy Sports Nutrition team is made up of four full-time registered dietitians. Their focus is to provide nutritional resources at the training facilities located across the U.S. Naval Academy and on the road as athletes travel. The increased staffing allows them to provide more hands-on treatment and care for midshipmen student-athletes. This team provides custom tools needed for each program based on their training and competition schedule. These enhancements to both the Navy Nutrition team and facility renovations are supported by Women for Navy Athletics.

Over the last seven years, Women for Navy Athletics has aimed to enhance these resources for midshipmen, allowing them access to the food and support they need to excel on the field and in the classroom. The Sohovich Fueling Station is now the fourth fueling station supported by Women for Navy Athletics. We are excited to share the progress of renovations of the fueling stations, along with the success of the Nutrition team.

Women for Navy Athletics Annual Support

Fueling Athletes, Connecting Teammates

In order to make the above possible, Women for Navy Athletics is asking for your help in raising $100,000 on an annual basis to support the staffing of two nutrition internships, in addition to three annual female student-athlete awards, female sport alumni reunions, and the expansion of the nutrition program for athletes.

Women for Navy Athletics is continuing to push this initiative to improve nutritional resources for all student-athletes. WFNA believes proper nutrition is key to performing your best in the classroom and on the playing field. We hope you will consider making a gift to the Women for Athletic Excellence Fund so that we may continue to make an impact on the Midshipmen student-athlete experience.
