Toledo 21, Navy 20

TOLEDO, Ohio (Ticker) -- Chester Taylor rushed for a season-high 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Toledo rallied from an early 10-point deficit to hang on for a 21-20 triumph over winless Navy.

Taylor carried a career-high 38 times as the Rockets (6-1) gained 238 yards on the ground. Tavares Bolden completed 21-of-29 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown for Toledo.

But Navy (0-7) took an early 10-0 lead on a 12-yard TD run by quarterback Brian Madden and a 42-yard field goal by David Hills.

Taylor, who managed just 25 yards on the ground last week in last week's loss to Ball State, capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 10-7 at halftime.

The Rockets, who dropped out of the Top 25 after the loss to Ball State, took their first lead, 14-10, on Taylor's nine-yard touchdown run just 1:43 into the second half.

The Midshipmen used trickery to regain the advantage. Wide receiver Chandler Sims took a pitch from Madden and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to splitback Tony Lane for a 17-14 edge with 7:41 to go in the third quarter.

But Toledo embarked on a seven-play, 54-yard drive and took the lead for good when Bolden found Andrew Clarke for a 13-yard touchdown and a 21-17 edge with 13:20 remaining.

Navy managed a 30-yard field goal from Hills with 7:28 to go, but could not get into field-goal range thereafter.

Donta Green caught eight receptions for 117 yards for Toledo, which finished with 520 yards of total offense. Clarke and Carl Ford combined for eight receptions and 122 yards.

Madden posted his ninth career 100-yard rushing effort with 121 yards on 24 carries. He also threw for 79 yards while Lane added 91 yards rushing.
