Navy Football Falls to Air Force, 24-18

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (Ticker) -- Keith Boyea rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, leading Air Force to a 24-18 victory over winless Navy.

Boyea completed just 7-of-11 for 78 yards for the Falcons (3-1), who have won three straight following a season-opening 44-3 loss to Oklahoma. Air Force rushed 62 times for 293 yards while attempting only 13 passes.

Navy (0-4) opened the scoring on Brian Madden's 54-yard touchdown pass to Tony Lane with 6:36 remaining in the first quarter. But the extra point was blocked and Air Force went up, 7-6, on Anthony Butler's 23-yard TD run with 4:11 to go in the period.

David Hills kicked a 23-yard field goal with 34 seconds left in the first to give Navy a 9-7 lead. Army needed only 29 seconds to answer, taking the lead for good on Boyea's 43-yard TD run. Boyea also scored on the conversion run, making it 15-9.

Brook Walters converted a 30-yard field goal as time expired to give Air Force an 18-9 halftime edge.

Hills booted a 37-yard field goal midway through the third quarter before the Falcons took a 24-12 lead on Leotis Palmer's 14-yard TD run with two minutes left in the third.

Madden made it close with a four-yard TD scamper with 3:27 remaining in the contest.

Madden completed 13-of-20 for 189 yards and also ran for 110 yards on 27 carries.
