Navy Rifle Team Defeats Army

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Feb. 17) -- The eighth-ranked Navy rifle team (9-1) defeated the No.13 Black Knights (7-1) of Army, 7710-7612, at West Point, N.Y. Saturday.

The smallbore team of David Bachta (Sr./Colorado Springs), Marta Jung (Fr./Reno, Nev.), Bill Tolson (Jr./Oak Harbor, Wash.), Scott Cohick (Sr./Oak Harbor, Wash.) and Luke Shank (Jr./Fort Wayne, Ind.) defeated Army, 5802-5720. Bachta shot a match-high 1171, while Shank had the second-highest score shooting a 1166.

The air rifle team of James Kauber (So./Burlington, Wash.), George Adams (Sr./Pearl River , N.Y.), Tran Lam (Sr./San Antonio, Texas), Jung and Bachta scored a 1908-1892 victory. Kauber posted a team-high 384.

Navy will be back in action Mar. 3 when it competes in the MAC Championship.
