COMMENTS FROM SECONDARY COACH TIM DERUYTER

On the play of the secondary-"I am pretty pleased so far. I think our offense is doing a great job showing us a lot of different formations and sets and making us make a lot of adjustments so it has been super for us as far as the looks we are getting. We are getting a lot better on offense throwing the ball, which is making us a better secondary. We have come a long way."

On surprise players-"I don't know that it is much of a surprise, but Matt Brooks is playing really well. He is really taking a leadership role. We are obviously going to miss Chris Lepore, but I think we are going to miss Chris a lot less because Matt is in there. I think our corners are going to be much better. Marcus Jackson came to camp ready to play; he's making things happen. Shalimar (Brazier) and Clyde (Clark) are playing really well also.

On depth-"I hate to say this because I don't want to jinx us, but I think we have pretty good depth this year in the secondary."

END OF TWO-A-DAYS

Today is the final day of two-a-day practices. The Mids will finish up double sessions tonight at 6 p.m. "Today is a great day," said senior linebacker Ryan Hamilton.
