Annapolis, MD (Sports Network) - Ed Bailey ran for 65 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Rice Owls to a 17-10 victory over the Navy Midshipmen in non- conference action.
Greg Henderson had a team-high 68 rushing yards for Rice (2-4), which racked up 247 yards on the ground in the game.
Craig Candeto threw for 53 yards and ran for 58 yards in defeat for Navy (1-5).
With the score tied 7-7 heading into the fourth quarter, Bailey plunged into the end zone from three yards out to give Rice a 14-7 advantage. Brennan Landry added a 25-yard field goal with 2:33 remaining, putting the Owls ahead by 10 points.
Eric Rolfs kicked a 39-yard field goal for Navy with 18 seconds showing on the clock to cut the score to 17-10, but the Midshipmen could draw no closer.
Rice got on the board with 7:15 remaining in the first quarter on a four-yard scamper by Bailey.
Navy evened the score at 7-7 just minutes later on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Candeto to Eric Roberts.
Defense dominated the second and third quarters, as neither team was able to score during the 30 minute stretch.
The Midshipmen, who have dropped five straight decisions since knocking off SMU to open the season, have now lost 13 consecutive home games.
