Navy Rifle Plays Host to Final Fall Match

The Navy rifle team will conclude the fall half of its season against the University of the Sciences (Philadelphia, Pa.) at the Bancroft Hall Range at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The Mids, currently 2-0 in dual-match action, are coming off a first-place showing at the MIT match last Saturday in Cambridge, Mass. Matt Albright (Shelton, Conn.) tied the Naval Academy's smallbore record with 1175 during the competition. A member of the 2002-03 USA Shooting National Development Team, Albright has continued to improve throughout the fall season by setting new career highs in both the smallbore and air disciplines this fall.

"I'm looking for us to finish strong going into our last match of the fall," said Navy head coach Bill Kelley. "We want to continue to improve and end the first half of the season on a high note."

In last season's match, Navy defeated USP 6090-5635. This year's team captain, James Kauber (Burlington, Wash.), tied his 2001-02 season-high score in the air rifle with 387.
