O'Rourke Joins Football Staff

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Naval Academy head football coach Paul Johnson announced Wednesday that Danny O'Rourke has joined his coaching staff. O'Rourke will work with the secondary.

"Danny coached for me at Georgia Southern for one year and is an outstanding young coach," said Johnson. "He will be a nice fit with our staff."

"I am excited to have the opportunity to coach at the Naval Academy," said O'Rourke. "Coach Johnson is one of the best coaches in the country and I am honored that he asked me to join his staff."

O'Rourke comes to Navy from Valdosta State where he was the secondary coach for one year. O'Rourke coached safeties at Georgia Southern in 2000 and helped the Eagles to a I-AA National Championship.

O'Rourke, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., was a three-year letterwinner at West Georgia and helped lead them to back-to-back league titles his junior and senior years. O'Rourke was an academic all-conference selection throughout his collegiate career.
