Lukevics Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy shortstop Matt Lukevics (Fr./Tampa, Fla.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday.

Lukevics batted 6-for-18 with a double, a walk and scored two runs, while extending his hitting streak to seven games on the Mids' spring break trip to Florida last week. He is the only Mid with a batting average over .300 (.317) and leads Navy with five doubles. He is tied for second on the team in hits with 13 and has the third-highest slugging percentage (.439). In Navy's 5-3 win over Rhode Island in extra innings last week, Lukevics went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run.

Navy returns to action Thursday when the Mids play host to Brown at 3 p.m. in their home opener at Max Bishop Stadium.
