Navy Baseball Team Tries To Break Losing Streak

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-The Navy baseball team (5-13) travels to Fairfax, Va., on Tuesday trying to break a seven-game losing streak as the Mids take on the George Mason Patriots (9-15) in a 2:30 p.m. contest. Navy has not won a game since beating Rhode Island, 5-3, on March 10.

"We need to get a win," said Navy head baseball coach Steve Whitmyer. "Our guys are excited about getting out and playing against George Mason and trying to right the ship. We are still looking for a lineup that will click for us and we need to get on top early instead of constantly trying to battle from behind. This has been a tough stretch for us and it would be a big confidence boost if we could go out Tuesday and beat George Mason before conference play starts this weekend."

The Patriots took three of four last weekend against Buffalo after going through a six-game losing streak themselves. The Patriots plan on sending Todd Simo (0-2, 9.00 ERA) to the mound, while Whitmyer will counter with sophomore right hander Andy Froistad (2-1, 2.70 ERA). Whitmyer plans on giving several pitchers some work in the game.
