Navy head football coach Paul Johnson

Q. Were you happy with practice today?

A. We went in shorts and helmets, hopefully we got a lot of learning in. I thought the attention was good, guys were paying attention, yeah I thought it went pretty good.

Q. You have a scrimmage tomorrow at the stadium (9 a.m., public is invited), what will you be looking for in the scrimmage.

A. Just evaluating. We are going to let everybody play and try to continue to evaluate. Hopefully we can build up some momentum about playing in our home stadium. That?s why we wore shorts today, we want to make tomorrow special and when we go to the stadium it needs to be special. We need to treat it that way.

Q. This group has won one home game in the last three years is that something you start working on changing tomorrow?

A. To me that?s water under the bridge, I?m not worried about anything that?s happened in the past. We are starting from scratch. We talked about protecting the home turf, but you ought to be ready to play no matter where you play. It?s a mindset, but I think these guys will play hard.
