ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk announced Tuesday that Navy has entered into a multi-year partnership with SportsTalk 980, WTEM, to air Navy football games.

"We are excited that WTEM will be our flagship station for Navy football games in the Washington, D.C., market," said Gladchuk. "SportsTalk 980 is the place to tune your dial if you are a sports fan and it is terrific for our fans to have the Navy football games on its wide reaching air waves."

"We look forward to a great partnership between Navy and SportsTalk 980," said WTEM station manager Jim Weiskopf. "We are proud to be associated with the Naval Academy and Navy Football."

In addition to airing the Navy football games, WTEM will also broadcast both Army-Navy men's basketball games each of the next two years and head football coach Paul Johnson will be a frequent on-air guest.

Navy kicks off the 2002 season Aug. 31 when the Mids travel to Dallas, Texas, to take on the SMU Mustangs. Kickoff is 8 p.m. (Eastern Standard). Navy's home opener is Sept. 7 against N.C. State at 12 noon. Season tickets are available by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY.
