Q. Are you pleased with the way the team is progressing?
A. I think we?re making progress. You?re still always a little bit antsy, but we?ve had time to prepare so everybody should know what to do and be ready to play.
Q. Did you get a chance to get everything in that you wanted to get in on offense?
A. No, the first season you?re not going to get everything in. We?ve got the game plan in. We?ve got enough stuff in that if we execute correctly it will give us a chance.
Q. How long have you been running this offense?
A. 17, 18 years.
Q. So it?s almost second nature?
A. It seems like it sometimes. I usually know where everybody is supposed to go.
Q. How much have you had to tweak it over the years?
A. Oh, its changed some over the years depending on personnel, but the base is pretty much the same as it was in 1985 when we started. It hasn?t changed a great deal.
Q. Where did it come from?
A. It started in ?85 at Georgia Southern when I started running the offense. It?s kind of a mixture of several things, I don?t know if it came from anywhere. It kind of evolved.
Q. I guess it?s not a coincidence that a couple of your former quarterbacks at Hawaii are on the staff and there are a lot of guys from Georgia Southern on your staff.
A. No, when you have a system you certainly want your coaches to understand it and we have guys who have played in it and coached in it so that?s good. That?s what you?re shooting for. Everybody has to be on the same page.
Q. What would you call the offense?
A. We call it the spread. You can call it whatever you want.
Q. How many plays would you say you have?
A. How many plays are in the offense? I don?t know. Probably eight or nine. There might be more than that, I don?t know.

Q. The whole "Expect to Win" campaign, did you push for that or was that the athletic department?
A. I think that was part of the marketing department when we came in.
Q. Did you sign off on it?
A. It was already there.
Q. Have you adopted that at all?
A. We haven?t talked a great deal about that as a team, I mean if you don?t think you?re going to win you probably won?t. Anybody can talk; it?s time to start walking the walk. You can talk all you want too, but until you do something nobody wants to listen.
Q. You said before show don?t tell, has the team picked up on that?
A. I think they?ve made progress. It?s not going to change overnight. I?m trying to be as patient as I can, but I?m not real patient. I?m not going to lower my expectations and they are trying to come up to our expectations.
Q. Have you set goals for the season?
A. Yeah, work hard and get better every day. I don?t ever worry about the rest that will take care of itself. If our team gets better every day, we?ll win some games.
Q. Besides kicker, are there any other positions up for grabs?
A. I don?t think so, but we have several positions where it?s so close that we?ll play several guys.
Q. How about Lenter?
A. He?s looked good the last couple of days, I expect him to play.
