Navy?s Conklin Receives Preseason All-America Lacrosse Recognition

TOWSON, Md. ? Navy senior midfielder Greg Conklin has been named a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Face Off Lacrosse Yearbook. Conklin, the lone Midshipman to earn the honor, is among 94 players to receive All-America kudos.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Conklin is part of a long lineage of lacrosse All-Americans at Navy. He became the Mids? 364th All-American last spring when he garnered Honorable Mention All-America recognition after leading the Navy midfield with 10 goals and six assists. Navy has had at least one player on the All-America squad since 1922.

Entering his senior campaign, Conklin owns more goals (39), assists (19), points (58) and ground balls (102) than any other player on the Navy roster.

?I believe Greg is going to cap his career here as one of the most consistent midfielders that we?ve had over the last several years,? said Navy head coach Richie Meade. ?He?s been an outstanding player in every aspect of the game for the last three years.?

Navy kicks off the 2003 season Feb. 15 at home against Marist. Game time is set for 12-Noon at Rip Miller Field.
