Annapolis, MD (Sports Network) - Navy quarterback Craig Candeto did his damage on the ground as he rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Navy Midshipmen over the Tulane Green Wave, 35-17, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Candeto carried the ball 18 times for 140 yards in the contest and completed

2-of-7 pass attempts for 57 yards with an interception. Kyle Eckel added

another 120 yards on 26 carries for the Midshipmen (6-3).

The Green Wave (3-6) was led by J.P. Losman, who completed 25-of-38 pass attempts for 198 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Mewelde Moore led the Tulane ground attack with 19 carries for 115 yards.

The Navy defense held the Green Wave scoreless in the first quarter, while the offense reached the end zone twice for the early lead. Candeto scored on a one-yard run and also ran 28 yards for a touchdown to give Navy a 14-0 edge midway after the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Losman answered for Tulane when he hit Tristan Smith on a six-yard touchdown pass to cut the Navy lead to 14-7.

Trey Hines closed out the scoring in the first half when he scored on a four-

yard touchdown run to push the Midshipmen's lead to 21-7 late in the second quarter.

Barrett Pepper cut the Navy lead to 21-10 when he split the uprights on a 41-

yard field goal attempt as time expired in the first half.

The Midshipmen scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 35-10. Frank Divis found the end zone on an eight-yard run and Candeto scored on an eight-yard run as well with 4:31 left in the third.

Nick Cannon threw a meaningless six-yard touchdown pass to Bubba Terranova as time ran out in the contest to bring the score to its final of 35-17 in favor of Navy.

Navy earned its first win in its last four tries against the Green Wave, while

Tulane extended its current losing streak to five games.
