Navy Lacrosse Faces Ohio State Saturday in First Away Contest

The Navy lacrosse team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for a 1 p.m. match Saturday against the Ohio State Buckeyes at North Turf Field. The preseason 14th-ranked Mids opened their season last Saturday with a 12-1 victory over Marist at Rip Miller Field, while Ohio State enters their season-opening contest ranked 19th in the Preseason Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook Poll. Saturday's contest will be the first-ever meeting between the schools.

In the Marist game, Navy received two goals apiece from preseason All-America Greg Conklin (Syracuse, N.Y.), Joe Bossi (Skaneateles, N.Y.), Graham Gill (Medford, N.J.) and Jon Birsner (Levittown, N.Y.). Birsner's efforts came in his first-ever collegiate game, while fellow freshman Ian Dingman (Deferiet, N.Y.) led the Mids with a pair of assists. Ben Bailey (Memphis, Tenn.) put the Mids on the scoreboard early with the team's first goal seven seconds into the match at 14:53 of the first period. Seth DiNola (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) recorded two saves on six Red Fox shots in the weather-shortened 45 minutes of action.
