Ian Dingman Named ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week
CENTREVILLE, Mass. - Navy freshman attack Ian Dingman (Deferiet, N.Y.) has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday morning. This is the second time this season Dingman has earned rookie-of-the-week kudos from the ECAC. He originally was recognized March 24 for his four-goal, three-assist effort in the Mids' victory over Stony Brook.
Dingman is coming off a two-goal, two-assist performance last week against the fourth-ranked Maryland Terrapins. He was the only Navy player to produce multiple goals and multiple assists, while being involved in four of the Mids' six goals on the afternoon.
The first-year player owns a team-high 19 goals and 12 assists and has nearly doubled his next closest teammate's point total with 19 - Greg Conklin and Graham Gill 16 points. Through nine contests, Dingman has tallied the ninth-most points by any Navy in its history. It's the most points by a Navy plebe since Dave Pittard scored 31 in 2001. Dingman has produced six multi-goal games, including six of the last-seven contests (hurt against Georgetown).
Dingman will lead the Mids into State College, Pa., to face Penn State Saturday at 2 p.m.
