Transcript of Linebacker Lane Jackson's Press Conference Monday, August 25, 2003

(Press conference was conducted after practice on Wednesday)

Q. How does the change to the 3-4 defense benefit the team this year?

A. It's going to bring a lot more speed to the field.

Q. You guys played a lot of different defenses last year. Did you play any 3-4?

A. We ran some 3-4 stack, especially against Rice, and we continued it after the Rice game because it was pretty successful.

Q. Has there been much of a transition moving to the 3-4 or have you guys kind of picked up from where you left off last year?

A. It's kind of rolling on from last year. Spring ball helped out. We got all of our assignments down in the spring. We've just been working to get better at it this fall.

Q. Who has opened your eyes so far in the preseason?

A. Of course Eddie Carthan. I'm impressed by the freshmen. We've got Keenan Little, Newsome (Kevin) the safety has been playing real well, and at outside linebacker Tyler Tidwell has been playing excellent football.
