Volleyball Falls at Army
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Fifth-year senior Caitlin Machon tallied 20 kills and hit .548 to help lead Army to a three-game sweep of Navy, Friday night at Gillis Field House in West Point. The Black Knights improved to 8-1 in the Patriot League, while the Mids fell to 4-5 in league play and to 16-7 on the season with the 30-19, 30-20, 30-28 decision.
"We never really were able to find a rhythm and challenge Army until the third game, and by then it was too late," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob.
Army totaled a .312 hitting percentage and recorded 11 service aces in the match, while Navy hit .214 and tallied only three aces.
Freshman Diane Sheldon (Colorado Springs, Colo.) knocked down 11 kills and hit .385 to pace the Navy offense.
Navy will play its final road match of the season Saturday night when the Mids play at Holy Cross in a 7 p.m. contest.
