Patriot League Honors Navy Freshman Greg Sprink

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy's Greg Sprink (Cardiff, Calif.) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Sprink is the second Navy player to garner weekly conference recognition this season, as fellow freshman Corey Johnson (Anderson, Ind.) was named the league's rookie of the week Nov. 29.
Sprink earned his first-collegiate start last Tuesday at Mount St. Mary's and answered with his first-career double-double. He produced career highs in both scoring (14) and rebounding (10), while leading the Midshipmen with four assists. He was 3 for 6 from three-point range after entering the contest 0 for 5 from long range. On the year, Sprink is averaging 4.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
The Midshipmen return to action Thursday when they travel to Charleston, S.C. to face The Citadel. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at McAlister Field House. The game will be taped and aired on 1430 WNAV following the Emerald Bowl featuring the Midshipmen against New Mexico.
