NAVY ANNOUNCES 2004 FOOTBALL RECRUITS
ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Navy head football coach Paul Johnson released the names of the 2004 Navy football recruits on Thursday as 43 prospects representing 14 states went through induction ceremonies on Wednesday and began plebe summer this morning.
"I think we brought in a pretty good class," said Johnson. "We emphasized speed and athleticism and I think this group will improve our team in both areas."
The state of Texas produced 14 prospects for the Midshipmen, while four incoming plebes hail from Florida and North Carolina. Louisiana, California, Maryland and Georgia each produced three prospects.
Two brothers of former Navy football players are part of the class. Ryan Goodson is the brother of former defensive lineman and three-year letter winner Robert Goodson ('93), while Matt Wimsatt is the brother of former defensive lineman and four-year letter winner Brad Wimsatt ('01).
Kennedale High School in Kennedale, Texas, is now the most represented high school on the Navy roster as Matt Humiston and Rocky Smith join high school teammate and current sophomore Jason Tomlinson in Annapolis.
Navy football season tickets are currently on sale at the Ricketts Hall Box Office or by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY. The Mids season opener is Sept. 4 when Duke comes calling to Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest
