Q. The defense made a lot of strides last year. Do you see a continued progression in the terms of understanding what Coach Green is asking from you?

A. It's definitely one of our goals. We made tremendous improvements last year compared to the year before and we're just hoping to continue improving and be a better defense. We gave up some points last year that we thought we shouldn't have so this year we're going to try and limit that and not put so much pressure on our offense. Hopefully the defense can get a couple of scores this year. It's been a few years since we've done that.

Q. Going into the season what areas of the defense do you think need to step up? You lost some veteran guys off last year's team, is there an area of two that concern you?

A. I don't really see it as in certain areas, I think we had a lot of great backups last year so if someone went down we had someone else to replace them right away. I think the guys that are stepping in did a great job in the spring and they are grasping their position pretty well. We are going to be pretty young in some spots, but the young guys that are going to be starting now got playing time last year.
