BOSTON, Mass. - The Navy heavyweight crew team placed tenth in both the championship four and championship eight races at the Head of the Charles Regatta, Sunday in Boston. In addition to their overall finish of 10th place, the varsity eight boat placed fifth and the varsity four boat placed fourth among U.S. colleges in their respective events.
"I've said for years that any boat which can finish among the top-10 boats and the top-five college boats has had a great day," said Navy head coach Rick Clothier. "I'm very pleased we were able to do just that, especially with having four sophomores in the boat for us."
Navy's varsity eight boat placed fifth among colleges and eighth overall at the 2004 Head of the Charles event.
Navy's eight-man boat recorded a time of 15:22.100 over the 2.5-mile course, while the four-man boat completed the race in a time of 17:33.576.
