GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior heavyweight Tanner Garrett won three matches on the first day and six other Navy wrestlers advanced to tomorrow's action in the consolation round during the first day of the highly-competitive Southern Scuffle. The 24th-ranked Mids are in eighth place after day one with 34 points, 24 points behind third-ranked Minnesota, which advanced nine wrestlers in the winner's bracket. The Mids are second among five EIWA teams competing, but have the fewest wrestlers in the championship bracket among the top 17 teams in the tournament. The wrestlers competing in the consolation round will need to win their first two matches of the day to place in the top eight.
