Navy's Becht and Atwell Garner CRCA Regional Honors

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy's Amy Becht (Sr., Buffalo, N.Y.) and Sarah Atwell (Fr., Wysomming, Pa.) were both named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, it was announced this week by the CRCA. Becht, who captained the Navy women's crew team this year, garnered first-team honors while Atwell received second-team accolades.

Becht rowed with Navy's varsity boat in every race this spring, while Atwell moved from the second varsity boat to the varsity crew halfway through the season. Together, Becht and Atwell helped Navy post a 21-second victory in the inaugural Patriot League Championship and place 10th at the Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges Championship. It marked the highest finish by Navy's varsity boat in the nine years the Mids have competed at the prestigious Eastern Sprints.

A total of 18 athletes comprised the two Mid-Atlantic Region teams, with Navy one of only four schools to have multiple representatives on the teams.
