BALTIMORE, Md. -- Five players totaled at least five kills to help lead the Navy volleyball team to a three-game sweep of Coppin State, Tuesday night in Baltimore. Navy improved to 5-3 on the season with the 30-24, 30-24, 30-19 victory.
"It was a nice win for us," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob. "We were able to go deep into our bench, but everyone who took to the floor contributed to the win."
Beth McArthur (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) and Ashley Musser (Sr., Industry, Pa.) each knocked down 12 kills to lead the Navy offense, while Megan Boyd (Jr., Richmond, Va.) led all players with a .444 hitting percentage on the night (five kills, one error, nine attempts).
"Megan continues to be a very steady player for us," said Schwob. "She does a lot of the little things which do not show up in the box score but are important to the overall success of the team."
Defensively for Navy, Jessie Sims (Fr., Etowah, N.C.) hauled in 12 of Navy's 38 digs. Navy as a team totaled a .267 hitting percentage, while limiting Coppin State to a .151 mark.
Navy will next travel to Colorado Springs for this weekend's Armed Forces Classic. The Mids will face the host Air Force Falcons Friday at 9 p.m. (EDT) and then will take on The Citadel Saturday at 6:30 p.m. (EDT).
