ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Casey Reed sank four free throws in the final 13 seconds, and Navy held off Longwood, 71-65, Tuesday night.
Navy (7-9) was led by Corey Johnson's 19 points, Greg Sprink's 16 points and 10 rebounds and Kaleo Kina's 13 points, but needed the clutch shooting of Reed to hold on for the win, which ended a four-game losing streak.
Ben Biles also had a career-high eight rebounds for Navy.
Longwood (3-15) was led by Maurice Sumter's 19 points and seven rebounds and Clayton Morgan's 15 points and eight rebounds. The Lancers, who are in their second year of a five-year classification period to Division I, lost for the 34th straight time on the road and for the 11th time in their last 12 games this season.
Navy led 65-58 with 3:07 left after a 13-4 run, but Longwood battled to within two points twice in the last two minutes. After Sumter made a basket to close the Lancers to 65-63 with 1:34 to play, Kirk Williams missed a chance to tie it when he missed two free throws with 59 seconds to play.
Navy's Leonard Green put the Mids back up by four at 67-63, but two free throws by Brandon Giles pulled Longwood back to within two with 18 seconds left. The Lancers fouled Reed, who made both free throws with 13.4 seconds left, then fouled him again after he rebounded a missed three-pointer by Dana Smith with 3 seconds to play. Reed made both free throws to ice the win.
