PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Navy's Jason Hill (So., Marietta, Ga.) dropped a straight-set decision in the qualifying round of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Men's Regional Championship Thursday in Philadelphia.
After Ignacio Roca of Virginia Tech won the first set from Hill by a score of 6-3, Roca held a 5-1 advantage in the second set before Hill closed to within 5-4. Roca would go on to win the next game to close out the match.
"Jason played okay today," said Navy head coach John Officer. "It was a nice rally in the second set. He just didn't have his best stuff today."
Hill will now turn his attention at the tournament to doubles as he and teammate Johnny Waters (So., Omaha, Neb.) will begin competing in the main draw Friday.
