GENEVA, N.Y. -- The Navy squash team continued its red-hot play, breezing past Hobart, 9-0, and Colgate, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon to complete its three-match weekend sweep. With the wins, Navy improves to 18-5 overall with 14 of the victories coming via sweeps.
"We continued to play well. We got in some very good work this weekend, and scored a Patriot League win over Colgate. We got our hat trick this weekend and felt we played well doing it," said Navy head coach Craig Dawson.
In the first match against Hobart, the Mids won eight of the nine matches in three games with sophomore Tucker George (West Hartford, Conn.) being pushed to four games at No. 1 singles. George dropped game two but cruised in the final two games for a 9-3, 3-9, 9-1, 9-0 victory.
Jeff Sawin (Haverford, Pa.) breezed at No. 2 singles, 9-0, 9-1, 9-1, Drew Parasher (Singapore) scored a 9-0, 9-1, 9-0 victory at No. 5 singles and Brian Hamilton (Lake Forest, Ill.) routed his opponent, 9-1, 9-0, 9-0, at No. 9 singles.
In the second match of the day, Navy routed Colgate, 9-0, winning all nine matches in three games.
At No. 1 singles, Sawin dropped just three points in his three-game sweep of Brooks Happel, 9-2, 9-1, 9-0. Alastair Smith (Hillsborough, N.J.) also dropped just three games at No. 3 singles, 9-1, 9-1, 9-1, over Jonathan Liebedoff. Lastly, Hamilton ended his strong day with a 9-1, 9-0, 9-0, win over Chris Quick at No. 8 singles.
Navy returns to action Wednesday when it heads to Lancaster, Pa., to take on rival Franklin & Marshall, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
