Teague Completes Second Day at NCAA Championship

ATLANTA, Ga. - After placing 33rd on the one-meter springboard event Thursday on the opening day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship, Navy's Kevin Teague (Jr., Lexington, Ky.) placed 29th on the three meter during Friday's afternoon session in Atlanta, Ga.

Teague started strong on his opening two dives Friday, recording scores of 51.15 and 54.00, respectively. He then struggled on dives three and four, totaling 25.50 and 36.00 points on the two efforts. Teague closed the preliminary round by posting scores of 43.50 on his fifth dive and 46.50 on his final dive for a total score of 256.65 points.

The top-16 divers during the preliminary rounds advanced to Friday night's finals. Arizona State's Joona Puhakka, who placed second on the one meter Thursday, totaled 416.20 points on the three meter to lead all divers, while Hawaii's Mats Wiktorsson placed 16th with a total score of 304.65 points.

Teague was one of four divers who qualified for the championship out of Zone A, with Princeton's Kent DeMond and Penn State's Adam Pierce both advancing to Friday night's finals. DeMond posted a score of 314.10 to place 14th, with Pierce recording a 307.60 points to place 15th. In addition, Pittsburgh's Jeremy Stultz placed 35th with a six-dive score of 212.80 points.

The championship will conclude Saturday at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center with the 10-meter platform event.
