ANNAPOLIS, Md.-The Navy football team is ranked 48th in the country by The Sporting News in their preseason publication. Notre Dame was ranked No. 1 and is the only Navy opponent ranked higher than the Mids.

Opponents ranked behind Navy include Tulsa (49th), Connecticut (57th), Rutgers (66th), Stanford (71st), East Carolina (88th), Air Force (91st), Duke (101st), Army (108th), Eastern Michigan (113th) and Temple (115th).

Junior fullback Adam Ballard (Lewisville, Texas) was ranked as the 11th best fullback in the country.

Season tickets are currently on sale at the Naval Academy Box Office in Ricketts Hall, by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY or on-line at www.navysports.com. The Mids open up the 2006 campaign on Sept. 2 against East Carolina. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m.
