WEST POINT, N.Y. - Liberty outhit Navy by over 70 points in posting a four-game victory over the Midshipmen, Friday night at the Army of One volleyball tournament in West Point, N.Y. The Flames defeated the Mids, 30-16, 22-30, 30-19, 30-24.

"We started very slow in game one and once we fell behind we couldn't close the gap," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob. "We changed our lineup in the second game and those changes worked well, but we couldn't carry that momentum over through the remainder of the match."

Liberty totaled a .219 hitting percentage in the match while Navy hit just .143. The Mids did tally more kills (54-53), digs (62-6) and blocks (12.0-10.0) in the match, but the Flames recorded 12 service aces to eight for Navy.

Navy was led by Nikki England (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) who tallied 14 kills, 18 digs and a .367 hitting percentage. Megan Boyd (Sr., Richmond, Va.) added one of her best matches of the year for Navy, recording 12 kills a .455 attack percentage and seven blocks.

The loss drops Navy's record to 3-7 on the year, while Liberty, who had faced defending national champion Washington and 15th-ranked Ohio during the opening weeks of the season, recorded its first victory of the year in eight matches.

The Mids will continue play at the tournament Saturday with matches against Radford (10 a.m.) and The Citadel (4 p.m.).
