WEST POINT, N.Y. - After winning a marathon opening game, Radford narrowly won the next two games to complete a sweep of the Navy volleyball team, Saturday morning in West Point, N.Y. The Highlanders improved to 4-6 on the year with the 37-35, 30-26, 30-24 victory over the now 3-8 Midshipmen.
The teams posted near-identical statistics in the match as both programs recorded 49 kills and 68 digs. Radford enjoyed a small advantage in hitting percentage, .184-.157, team blocks, 10-6, and service aces, 5-3.
Rachel Dougherty (Jr., Derwood, Md.) paced the Navy offense with 15 kills and a .414 attack percentage, while also recording a double-double with 10 digs. Jessie Sims (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Navy defense with a career-high tying 22 digs.
The Mids will close play at the tournament later this afternoon with a 4 p.m. match against The Citadel.
