OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Navy heavyweight crew team opened its fall season Saturday by winning the open eight race at the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in Oklahoma, City, Okla.
The Mids, who also won the 4,000-meter race held on the Oklahoma River last year, posted a time of 12:34.047 to win the race by five seconds over second-place Harvard (12:39.054) and by nearly 50 seconds over third-place Texas (13:23.208).
The U.S. National Team competed as an exhibition crew in the race and posted a time of 12:02.553.
The Mids will continue their fall campaign Oct. 14 when Navy takes part in the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia.
