BALTIMORE, Md. - Loyola's Karlee Woodward totaled 11 blocks and the Greyhounds tallied 18.0 team blocks on their way to recording a three-game victory over the Navy volleyball team, Tuesday night at Reitz Arena in Baltimore, Md. Loyola improves to 13-8 on the season with the 30-28, 30-19, 30-28 win, while Navy drops its third-straight match and falls to 11-7 on the year with the loss.

"We just never found a rhythm on offense tonight," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob. "Even moving some people around didn't work against Loyola's block.

"We did not play the same way we have recently, and that was disappointing. Hopefully we learned a lot about ourselves tonight and we will be ready to apply those lessons in practice over the next few days and be ready to go with a lot of emotion and confidence this weekend."

The opening game saw the score tied at 25-25 when Loyola ran off three-straight points on a block and a pair of kills to take a 28-25 lead. The Mids then went on a 3-0 run of their own to tie the game for a seventh time at 28-28 on a Loyola service error, a bad set by the Greyhounds and a kill from Alexa Gibbs (Jr., Springfield, Ill.). The game ended, however, with another Loyola block and an attack error from Gibbs.

The Greyhounds held a lead of three-to-four points through most of game two, then broke open the game when a 5-0 run boosted their advantage to 27-19.

Game three would be tied a total of 10 times, including at 25-25 and 28-28, just as in the opening game. Also as in game one, Loyola's 3-0 run to take a 28-25 lead was followed by three-straight points by the Mids. This time the Greyhounds used back-to-back kills to close out the contest.

Loyola's 18.0 blocks helped hold Navy to a .116 hitting percentage on the night. The Mids were fairly effective against the Greyhounds offense, totaled 8.0 team blocks and limiting Loyola to a .213 attack percentage.

Jessie Sims (Jr., Etowah, N.C.) led Navy with 12 kills and 15 digs.

The Mids will return to Patriot League play this weekend with matches Friday against Bucknell (7 p.m.) and Saturday against Colgate (4 p.m.) in Macdonough Hall.
