WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Navy women's swimming team opened its 2007-08 season by successfully defending its title at the Potomac Relays, Friday night at American's Reeves Aquatic Center in Washington, D.C. The Mids totaled 334 points to outdistance second-place George Mason by 32 points and win the five-team meet.
"It was a solid, all-around meet for us," said Navy head coach John Morrison. "I was pleased with a number of decent swims for this early in the year. At the same time, some of the clockings may have been a wake up call for some on the team. Overall, though, I was pleased with how we performed."
The Mids won six of the nine contested events on the night, with eight Navy swimmers totaling at least one victory and five swimmers finishing with three victories.
Navy will open its regular season Oct. 13 when the Mids play host to Catholic, George Washington and Loyola (Md.) in an 11 a.m. meet in Lejeune Hall.
