HANOVER, N.H. - Navy women's cross country runner Arwyn Becker (Sr./Avon, Colo.) led the team with a fifth-place performance as the Midshipmen topped the field of four teams at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning in Hanover, N.H.
Making their first visit to the Hanover Country Club in program history, the Midshipmen owned five of the 10 fastest times to record victories over Keene State (25-36), Dartmouth (20-37) and UMass (20-43).
Similar to its season-opening meet at Appalachian State, Navy packed its runners well in creating a very slim spread over its top-five runners. The Midshipmen produced a 13.2-second spread on Saturday after an 11.7-second differential among the scoring five last week.
"We really had a great showing today," stated Navy head coach Karen Boyle. "I am really excited about our pack work. It's really starting to come together."
Becker boasted the team's best clocking for the first time in her career, as she crossed the finish line in 21:04.2. Team captain Kyleigh Millhouse (Sr./Boiling Springs, Pa.) led a tight group of four Navy runners as she placed seventh with a 21:12.1 showing. Katie Rentz (Fr./San Diego, Calif.) came in eighth with a 21:14.1 clocking, followed by Erica Ziel's (So./Saginaw, Mich.) 21:15.2 effort for ninth place and Maureen Dooley's (Jr./Durham, Conn.) 10th-place time of 21:17.5.
Navy will return to Annapolis to host its lone home meet of the year, the Navy Invitational, next Saturday at 10 a.m. on the USNA Cross Country Course.
