WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Army posted a hitting percentage of .425 and held Navy to a mark of .049 to help the Black Knights tally a 25-16, 25-8, 25-15 victory over the Midshipmen, Friday night at Gillis Field House in West Point.
"We struggled from the beginning tonight," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob. "Army never let us find a rhythm."
In addition to holding the sizeable advantage in hitting percentage, the Black Knights (25-3, 12-1 Patriot League) also nearly doubled the number of kills Navy (16-13, 4-9) recorded in the match. Army finished the night with 44 kills while in turn holding the Mids to just 23. The Black Knights also recorded four aces and 11.0 blocks in the match, with Navy unable to tally either an ace or a block itself.
Jamie Clark and Elizabeth Lazzari both finished the match with 12 kills apiece for Army, while Alexa Gibbs (Sr., Springfield, Ill.) recorded eight kills to lead the Navy offense.
Navy will close its 2008 season Saturday night with a 6 p.m. match at Holy Cross.
