In Attendance: Bill Wagner (Annapolis Capital) and Camille Powell (Washington Post)
Wagner: Must have been nice to see Kaipo back out at practice.
Niumatalolo: It was good to see him and it was good to see Ricky Dobbs back out here. Andre Byrd and Corey James were jogging a little bit so they should be back soon as well.
Wagner: Can you tell us exactly what Kaipo's been doing the last week? We didn't see him at practice much and I know he was getting treatment, what is involved in treating an injury like that other than staying off it?
Niumatalolo: He was getting EGS, ice, whirlpool; we were doing everything we can to get him healthy.
Wagner: For us amateur doctors, what is EGS?
Niumatalolo: I'm an amateur doctor myself, but it's basically massaging your leg and getting the blood flow moving which speeds the recovery process.
Wagner: He's not wearing a wrap or anything else out here so it seems like it is working.
Niumatalolo: His range of motion is coming back. Every day he is getting better.
Wagner: Do you think he could play against Towson or is it too early to make that call?
Niumatalolo: It is too early to make that call, but I wouldn't rule it out. He's working hard and that's all we can ask him to do. Work hard and get back as fast as you can.
Powell: How much time would he need to get ready for Towson? Would he need a week of practice, does he need to get hit before he plays?
Niumatalolo: Ideally, if he could come back next week and have a full week to get ready that would be great. He knows what to do mentally, but he has missed some of the physical part so he would be a little rusty. The quicker we can get him back the better.
Wagner: Anything else strike you from the scrimmage after having a chance to review the tape?
Niumatalolo: It was exactly what we thought. It was just like the week before. I thought the offense came out today and practiced better. We are now turning our focus exclusively to Towson. We are pairing down to our travel squad and the guys that will be playing in the games are getting all the reps.
Wagner: Any injuries from the scrimmage? How is Teich?
Niumatalolo: He should be back later this week. It wasn't as bad of a sprained ankle as we thought. Hopefully he will be back Wednesday or Thursday.
