Navy kicks off its 128th year of college football on Saturday when it plays host to the Towson Tigers in the first meeting between the two schools. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:32 p.m. and the game is sponsored by Verizon Wireless.
Saturday's game will be televised nationally by CBS College Sports with Tom Hart and former Nebraska All-American Trev Alberts calling the action.
The Navy Football Radio Network will provide more than six hours of coverage starting at 1:30 p.m. with a pre-game show on 1430 WNAV (Annapolis) hosted by Pete Medhurst, Joe Miller and Wiley Baker. The Navy Football Radio Network pre-game show (1430 AM WNAV, 1090 AM WBAL in Baltimore, 1050 AM WFED in Washington, D.C., 1500 AM, 820 AM and 107.7 FM 3WT in Washington, D.C., 1520 AM WTRI in Frederick and 102.1 FM and 1490 AM WXTG in Virginia Beach) will get underway at 2:30 p.m. with Bob Socci, John Feinstein, Omar Nelson and Pete Medhurst setting the scene from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Socci (play-by-play), Feinstein (analyst), Nelson (analyst) and Medhurst (sideline reporter) will then call all the action of Navy's season opening contest against Towson starting at 3:30 p.m. on the Navy Radio Network, which also includes Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 121 for Saturday's game).
New to this year's radio line-up is a 60-minute post-game show on 1430 WNAV with Medhurst and Miller hosting the show live from the Superintendent's Tent in the Southwest corner of the stadium.
Festivities get underway at the stadium at approximately 1:30 p.m. when the Navy football team buses pull up to the Blue Angel located on the west or press box side of the stadium. The team will get off the buses at the Blue Angel and walk about 50 yards down the sidewalk and then make a left turn and walk down the sidewalk located in NavyFest, before making another left turn and walking into the stadium in the South End Zone. Navy fans are encouraged to line up on both sidewalks and cheer on the team as it makes their way to the locker room.
The Brigade of Midshipmen march-on is scheduled for 3:11 p.m., while the fly-by is set for 3:30 p.m.
