CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Navy rifle team struggled in both disciplines, but outscored both MIT and Wentworth on Saturday afternoon. The Mids improved to 2-0 in dual meets, scoring a 4581 to MIT's 4405 and Wentworth's 4388.

"I am not in a happy mood today, kind of at loss for words," said Navy head coach Bill Kelley. "We posted some higher numbers today that weren't on the counting team, but the scores were not where they need to be. This has to get better, and we have a long, long ways to go."

The Mids shot a 2267 in smallbore, paced by Chris Burleson's 576. Liz Leckie totaled a 575, Ryan Williams scored a 564 and Kenan Wang tallied a 562.

Navy then tallied a 2314 in air rifle, led by Williams' 585. Alison Lankes shot a 583, Burleson scored a 581 and Leckie netted a 565 total.

Navy will be off next weekend, before heading to West Point for the President's Trophy on Nov. 7.

"That will be a tough competition. Air Force is much stronger, and Army is always good. We have our work cut out for us," said Kelley.
