Final Stats

NORFOLK, Va. -- Each of the four members of the Navy men's tennis team who competed at the ITA Atlantic Regional recorded one singles victory during the tournament that was held this weekend in Norfolk, Va.

Anderson Walls (Fr., Alpharetta, Ga.) recorded a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Matt Prusack of St. Joseph's during the opening round of tournament, while Marcus Rebersak (So., Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Juan Ortiz of Morgan State in the round of 128. Both players would go on to lose to seeded players in the round of 64. Walls dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to top-seeded Sanam Singh from Virginia, with Rebersak's run ending due to a 6-1, 6-1 setback to No. 14 Luka Somen of Virginia Tech.

Navy's Owen Bullard (Jr., Concord, N.C.) received an opening-round bye thanks to his being seeded 21st in the championship. He would defeat Billy Heird of Longwood by scores of 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 64 before losing by an identical score to No. 3 seed Yoann Re of Virginia Tech in his next match.

Meanwhile, after suffering a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Siim Tuus of Liberty in the first round, Eddie Konrad (So., The Woodlands, Texas) bounced back to defeat Yan Levinski of George Washington in a consolation match. Konrad won the first set over Levinski by the score of 6-3 and held a 3-0 lead in the second set when Levinski retired to end the match.

"It was a good tournament for us," said Navy head coach John Officer. "We played pretty well and didn't suffer any bad losses. Owen also played well in reaching his seed."

The four Navy players combined to form a pair of doubles teams at the regional, with both losing close matches in the round of 32. The tandem of Bullard and Konrad lost an 8-5 decision to Yakov Diskin and Kris Muzalewski of Old Dominion, while Rebersak and Walls dropped an 8-6 contest to Thibaut Charron and Kristzian Kroscko of Virginia Commonwealth.
