ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's swimming and diving team won 15 events and set seven records in posting a 202-95 victory over Army Thursday evening in Navy's Lejeune Hall.

The win was Navy's 21st in a row over Army.

"This is definitely our biggest dual meet of the year, so it is easy to get excited for it," said Navy women's swimming coach John Morrison. "But the team still had to go out there and swim and dive well and they did just that. We wanted them to swim fast and they were able to. Army swam well and gave us a number of tight races, but we were fortunate to be able to build our lead through the evening."

The Mids opened the meet by having its 200 medley relay team of Kellie Darmody (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.), Mallory Dietrich (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa.), Toni Paruso (Fr., Savannah, Ga.) and Thuy-Mi Dinh (Sr., Anaheim, Calif.) win the event with a Lejeune Hall (1:57.14), school (1:57.14) and Army-Navy meet (1:58.22) record time of 1:56.03.

The individual events began with Navy's Tara Chapmon (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) just missing multiple records in winning the 800 freestyle with a time of 8:52.86. Teammate Allison Ranzau (Jr., Alpharetta, Ga.) then set a new meet record in winning the 200 free with a time of 2:02.23 (2:02.79). The Navy winning streak continued with Darmody posting a time of 1:04.88 to win the 100 back and Dietrich recording a time of 1:12.05 to win the 100 breaststroke.

Navy went into intermission with Paruso posting a time of 2:19.96 to win the 200 fly, Dinh recording a clocking of 25.46 to take the 50 free and Jordyn Nicholl (Fr., Acworth, Ga.) tallying 228.97 points to win the one-meter diving competition.

Dinh's 50 free time tied her own school and pool record, broke her own meet record (25.64) and was an NCAA B cut qualifying time. After the break she returned to the blocks and broke her own Navy, Lejeune Hall and Army-Navy meet record (56.84) in winning the 100 free with a time of 56.09.

Darmody and Dietrich followed Dinh's performance by winning their second individual event of the night. Darmody won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:20.22, while Dietrich won the 200 breast with a clocking of 2:38.74.

Chapmon and Paruso would next establish new pool, school and meet records and earn NCAA B cut qualifying times in back-to-back events. Chapmon first won the 400 free with a time of 4:15.08 to break her own records by seven-hundredths of a second, then Paruso won the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.95. Paruso edged Army's Alyssa Tran by just over one quarter of a second for the victory. Her time also broke her own school record and the pool standard by nearly one second (1:02.65, 1:02.57), as well as the meet record by close to three seconds (1:04.64).

Army diver Lindsey Adao would then record the lone event win of the night for the Black Knights when she won the three-meter event with a score of 224.25.

The final individual event of the night saw Navy's Bryn Moriarty (Fr., Chesapeake, Va.) win the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:20.74.

The meet concluded with Navy's team of Dinh, Ranzau, Darmody and Chapmon winning the 400 freestyle relay in a new Navy, Lejeune Hall and Army-Navy Meet record (3:52.69) time of 3:52.07.

"We all were excited for this meet, but we were also nervous," said team captain Chapmon. "We had an emotional team meeting last night where all of the seniors spoke about what this meet means to them. We then came out today and swam really well. It was great to see."

Navy, 8-0 on the season, will next be in action Jan. 16 at Vermont.
