Final Stats

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The No. 22 North Carolina men's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Navy, Thursday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.

"Even though we lost, I was encouraged by how we played today," said Navy head coach John Officer. "We were facing the most talented team on our schedule in our first outdoor match of the year and six of the nine matches were very competitive."

The Tar Heels (9-2) swept the three doubles matches from Navy (8-4) to win the doubles point, winning by scores of 8-2 at No. 1, 8-4 at No. 2 and 8-5 in No. 3. Four of the six singles matches played between the teams also were close. Clay Donato, the 27th-ranked player in the country, posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Marcus Rebersak (Fr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) at No. 1 singles, Andrew Crone recorded a 7-5, 6-4 win over Jason Hill (Sr., Marietta, Ga.) at No. 3, Luke Mojica won a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Owen Bullard (So., Concord, N.C.) at No. 5 and Alex Raifee won a 6-3, 7-5 match over Eddie Konrad (Fr., The Woodlands, Texas) at No. 6 singles.

"Jason played very well in his match today, and Eddie was up 5-4 and serving in the second set of his match," said Officer.

Navy will remain in the region for matches Saturday at Clemson and Sunday at UNC Greensboro.
