ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's club tennis team won all five singles matches and two-of-four doubles matches to claim a 7-2 victory over the UMBC Club team on Sunday afternoon at the Tose Family Indoor Tennis Center. The Mids improved to 5-3 overall on the season.

"I continue to be pleased with the progress the team is making as a whole," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We have shown steady improvement in every match we have played."

The Mids won all five singles matches, dropping just one set in the process. Julie Dias had perhaps the best day at No. 3 singles, defeating Cao in straight sets without losing a match, 6-0, 6-0. Lindsay Olsen won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Kristia Suriben won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Rebecca Carlson defeated Higdon at No. 5 signles, 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 1 singles, Brittney Boucher lost the first set to Hodges, 6-4, but won the second set before taking the tiebreaker, 10-6.

"Brittney Boucher played a great match. Hodges went undefeated in singles in the sectional championship held last weekend," said Puryear. "She was a little under the weather and was still was able to fight back after losing the first set.

"Lindsay Olsen really went out and took care of business in her match," added Puryear. "She only lost one game, as did Julie Dias, who did not surrender a game. They both looked great. They played very aggressive tennis today and did not allow their opponents into the match."

Navy then won two-of-our doubles matches to round out the victory. Christina Montoya and Katherine Kitchen won at No. 3 doubles, 8-1, while Olsen and Dias teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 4 doubles.

Navy will be off now for four weeks until March 28, when it travels to Washington, D.C., to face the George Washington Club team.
