Final Stats

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Navy men's tennis team concluded its back-to-back matches in Florida by posting a 7-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman Thursday morning at the City Island Tennis Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Mids (11-6) dropped a combined nine games in sweeping the three doubles matches from the Wildcats (7-13). This included Navy's No. 2 team of Nick Birger (So., Belleville, Ill.) and Jason Hill (Sr., Marietta, Ga.) posting an 8-0 victory over the duo of Yannick Jackson and Emil Vassilev.

Navy then went out and won each of the six singles matches in straight sets to complete the 7-0 win. Nate Nelms (Sr., St. Mary's, Ga.) and Hill both lost just two games, in winning their matches at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively, Johnny Waters (Sr., Papillion, Neb.) and Eddie Konrad (Fr., The Woodlands, Texas) both won 6-2, 6-3 decisions at Nos. 2 and 6 singles, and Ramsey Lemaich (Jr., Danville, Calif.) posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Christian Cruz at No. 4 singles. Rounding out the results was Owen Bullard (So., Concord, N.C.), who recorded a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Kristofer Martin at No. 5 singles.

"We played a very good match today," said Navy head coach John Officer. "It was a good all-around performance. This was a good match for us to have today as we get ready for a key contest next week against George Washington."

The Mids are currently scheduled to face the Colonials March 25 in Washington, D.C. Should poor weather force the match indoors, however, it could be played at Navy's Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis. A decision on the site will be made early next week.
