The scrimmage on March 28th went well, I felt like the offense got the better of the defense. Mario Washington had a great day. He was full of energy and had a thirst for the ball as if he were dehydrated. Overall, I think we did well as a team. There were a bunch of good things on both sides of the ball, and it was just fun to be out there.
I have a lot going on for the remainder of the semester. I have the rest of spring football where I'm trying to become a "natural" at running the option, I'm performing with a dance group in the International Ball on April 18th, I'm the Vice President of my class and I have to help plan some upcoming events, and final exams are coming up. I am a firm believer in what God says about not putting more on you than you can bear, so I know I can handle it. It's just at times I feel like it's too much, but thanks to his word, I'm making it.
Practice last week went well. We are making strides as a team to become a closer group and continuing to press forward to be better at doing our job. We are having fun competing everyday and I think that's when you get the most work out of a team, when it's fun to compete against one another.
As for Saturday's scrimmage, I thought it was solid. The defense stopped us a couple of times and we scored on them a couple of times. I missed two BIG reads that would have been touchdowns if I just would have handed the ball off. I would like to apologize to both Alex Teich and Kevin Campbell. Those are the things I think I need to improve on, making the easy reads. I sometimea get caught up and make the read before it actually happens, but I will get better because I will work at it and I know Coach Jasper will not lighten up!
We only have a few more opportunities to get better, so it is critical that we maximize our effort to become the best individual players we can be to make the team better. I do not mean that like a selfish individual, but a selfless individual with the team's best interest at heart..... Until next time....God Bless!!!
