2009 Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge Results
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Rookie Annie Barry (Fr./Crestwood, Ky.) led the Navy women's cross country team with an 11th-place time to help the Midshipmen to a third-place finish out of eight teams at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge on Saturday morning.
Toledo won the race with a team score of 23 points to beat out host William & Mary's second-place total of 43 points. Navy accumulated 86 points for third place, followed by Norfolk State's 118 points, Christopher Newport's 141 points, Hampton's 175 points, Longwood's 176 points and Howard's 213 points.
Barry, the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week, completed the 6k course in 22:28.2. The Navy freshman finished 1:23.9 behind individual champion Ari Fisher from Toledo.
Anna Bernal (Sr./Bonaire, Ga.) placed 16th overall with a time of 22:45.6, immediately followed by teammate Erica Ziel's (Sr./Saginaw, Mich.) 17th-place clocking of 22:49.6. Sarah Burns (Jr./Rochester Hills, Minn.) finished 25th with a 23:20.4 showing and Bethany Rahall (Jr./Yorktown, Va.) completed the scoring five with a 31st-place time of 23:31.9.
The Midshipmen will return to action on Friday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete in the Paul Short Run. Race time is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.
