2010 Navy Invitational Results 
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy swimming and diving team's combined to produce victories in 22 events, highlighting the Midshipmen's efforts at the non-scored, three-team Navy Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Lejeune Hall.
On the men's side, the Midshipmen finished the non-scored invite with 16 first-place finishes, led by triple-event winner Patrick Veltman (Jr., Midlothian, Va.). Veltman touched first in the 100 backstroke (53.01), 100 freestyle (46.95) and 400 individual medley (4:01.36).
For the second night in a row, Adam Meyer (Sr., Bethesda, Md.) won multiple events, claiming first in the 100 butterfly (50.52) and 200 individual medley (1:51.21). Meyer also swam a leg on Navy victories in the 200 free and medley relays.
Andrew Utama (Sr., Walnut, Calif.) and Benjamin Nicholas (So., Bothell, Wash.) also finished as double-event winners. Utama swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 59.00 and the 200 in 2:08.75, while Nicholas swept the diving events, winning the one-meter with 277 points and the three-meter with 318 points.
Also recording individual victories for the Mids was Drew Mays (So., Southlake, Texas) in the 500 freestyle (4:41.81), Steve Dukleth (So., Glen Ellyn, Ill.) in the 200 butterfly (1:52.14), Erik Hunter (Jr., Placerville, Calif.) in the 1650 freestlye (15:59.05), Ryan Ward (Jr., Prospect, Ky.) in the 200 backstroke (1:56.27), and Robbie Parker (Fr., Vienna, Va.) in the 50 freestyle (21.58).
"Overall and in terms of time, we could have been better today," said Navy men's swimming coach Bill Roberts. "I had hoped we would have been able to equal our times from last night. We did have individuals who had solid swims today including Patrick Veltman and KC Linn, who both were the most consistent."
The Navy men's team will host Columbia next Friday at 2:00 pm, before heading to Princeton the following afternoon for a dual at 1:00 pm.
On the women's side, Navy produced six victories and 23 top-three finishes led by double-event winner Thuy-Mi Dinh (Sr., Anaheim, Calif.). Dinh captured both the 50 (23.15) and 200 freestyle (1:53.75) events. Her win in the 50 free improved her record on the year to 10-1 in the event.
The Mids also received individual wins from Laura Gorinski (Fr., Greenburg, Pa.) in the 200 IM (2:08.93), Sarah Lindberg (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) in the 100 backstroke (59.25), Bryn Moriarty (Fr., Chesapeake, Va.) in the 400 IM (4:33.96) and Kellie Darmody (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) in the 100 butterfly (59.04).
"Today was sort of a fun meet for the girls, as we had a number of people swimming different events," said Navy women's swimming coach John Morrison. "It is our hope that competing on back-to-back days like this will serve as good preparation for the upcoming league meet."
The Navy's women's team will next compete in the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 18-20, in Annapolis.
